Hi,
My name is Julie Allen. I am the artist behind the easel and creator of all the original paintings on this site. I live and work just outside of Sydney, Australia in my home studio. I'm a wife and a mother of two beautiful children aged three and nine. I always had a love of anything arty or crafty even as a little girl and always displayed a natural creative talent.

I started creating children's art nearly ten years ago for my baby daughter's bedroom and for many family and friends. I dabbled in art for a few years until the arrival of my baby son three years ago. It was at this time I decided I wanted to decorate my son's nursery but I just couldn't find any art that I really liked. I realised a lot of other people had this same dilemma. It was then that I had the idea to offer my art for sale so that everyone has the opportunity to purchase a beautiful artwork that stands out from the crowd of mass produced commercial art.

It started off with a cute car set for boys and butterflies for girls and my artwork has been so well received that it has allowed me to expand my designs to hundred of different works of all themes. I have since created hundreds of original paintings to brighten up children's bedrooms all over Australia and abroad. I look forward to creating many more new, original designs in the future. Creating new pieces is what inspires me, what keeps me going as an artist.

About The Art

Each canvas is lovingly and meticulously hand painted, I do not currently sell prints of my works, so whilst I may paint another copy of a previous artwork you can be sure that it is an original with unique brush strokes. I use non-toxic acrylic paint on each painting. The paintings available for sale in my shop are all painted on single thick (18mm) stretched canvas however they may be ordered on thicker canvases, thin canvas panels or on high quality artist paper. All side edges of the canvas are painted so framing is not necessary but optional. I use quality gallery wrapped canvases with staples on the back (not visible on the sides like inferior cheap canvases) and I paint the edges on all stretched canvases so framing is not necessary.

I am able to add 'fairy crystal glitter paint' or metallic paint to any painting; this is always popular with the girls who love their sparkling artwork. Each canvas is sprayed with a gloss sealer which helps protect painting against dust, insects and curious little fingers.

Art is not just limited to the canvas, I can paint photo frames, height charts, name plaques, book ends, toy boxes, lamps and just about anything else that can be painted, if unsure feel free to ask me. These items are not currently available on my shop and are made to order.
